Wasting time?

It is indeed quite possible; had you been strolling past the study door the other morning around half ten; you might well have spotted the rear end of a certain hound, tail wagging ferociously!

The front end of this particular chap appeared headless, as it was entirely encased in my waste paper basket!

Now it’s not for me to ‘grass’ on this particular event, it is merely a salient reminder that joy can be found in the oddest of venues….a waste bin being one of ‘em.

I decided however, to let ‘sleeping dogs lie’, or in this case ‘rummaging hounds rummage!’ frankly, anything in this particular receptacle was fair salvage for a huntin’ chap, I therefore beat a hasty retreat to the kitchen and a steaming cup of coffee.

About 10 minutes later, I returned to the study, with an eye to continuing my task of weeding out more unwanted waste, diligently collected over many years of ‘squirreling.’

There was no sign of Bingo, so I sat at the desk and commenced sifting through another pile of documents….if, old petrol receipts, ancient utility bills and now meaningless jottings and scribbles count as documents! Fortunately, on occasion one finds something of interest, and that gets popped on fresh pile for further perusal. (Or, I guess - secondary 'squirreling!')

So engrossed was I, I hadn’t notice the return of Bing, and my well aimed ball of paper, basket bound, actually landed on the back of his head! Fortunately the lad is of a sunny disposition, and assumed I was in the process of playing some sort of ball game, and immediately he ‘saved the shot’ and delivered the paper pill back to me.

‘Have another go Guv.’

In truth it takes very little to distract me, as any of my despairing teachers (if surviving) would unhappily testify. Within minutes the basic ground rules were agreed and it wasn’t long before a full match was underway! Half-time arrived with Bing 8 saves to my 2 binnings up, and we toddled to the kitchen for another coffee (for me) and the equivalent of half an orange (actually a small bonio!) for the lad himself.

The second half? Well, it went much the same way, with me losing rather heavily…..the score?
Oh well it was rather a lot…. thank you very much for asking!!

Thus, the new sport (yet to be ratified by that tardy bunch in charge of the Olympics) of ‘Bin-Pill’ came about one tidying day quite recently.
