Getting an old poops attention.....and such!

Looking out the window

The boy Bing has many ways of attracting the attention of the old poop! We have various chairs in the study, and one, at times, resides beside a chest.  This affords the lad a clear view out of the window.

Naturally in the morning he’ll often be found, front paws resting on the chest, studying the mums and dads taking their children up to the local school.

His favoured view is from the bedroom above, which gives him an even more detailed view of events! This however is kept in check, as once upstairs he is known to bounce on beds, and go on the hunt for cuddly toys!

Should the aforementioned chair not be in position, I have often found myself sharing my chair suddenly, with a hound attempting to gain his window view.

There is nothing subtle about this!

I can be quietly working in front of the old vdu, when with 'one leap' the Lad piles on to the chair, pushing me nearly through the screen!

My normal retort is...

‘Can I help you?’

‘Shift up a bit guv, I think someone’s coming up the road!’

‘Really Bing there’s nobody there…….all the kids are now at school….and…..’

At which point someone trundles up the pavement and I go quiet!

A wriggling match starts as we both attempt to occupy a ridiculously small area.

‘There really isn’t enough room on here for both of us, I think it better if you hop off and I’ll get the other chair over here.’

I attempt to lever myself out of a very tight situation, and place the other chair in the correct position.

‘There you are Bingo, now can I have my chair back?’

‘M’mmmmm?’

I give a long sigh, and wander out to the kitchen to replenish my coffee mug.

I’m now standing by the back door, looking out on the autumnal scene. Suddenly the leaves are really ageing, and the prospect of leaf clearing looms. The summer has gone, and soon the smell of leaf mould will fill the ancient forest, and this old duffer wont enjoy being led around the trails by his young companion.

‘You see guv, you’re dreaming again.’

‘Am I?’

‘Yep.’

‘M’mm.’

‘Sometimes I can nudge you when you’re sitting in the other room, and you don’t respond.’

‘Really?’

‘Really. Then I paff you with my paw…….nothing.’

‘Really?

‘Yep.’

‘I see…..’

‘So then I pounce!’

‘M’mm…..’

A sudden gust results in a cascade of leaves from a nearby Ash, landing on the lawn, this in turn results in a long sigh.

‘Cor guv, that was a long’un!’

‘M’mmm?’

A very deep ‘WOOF!’ makes me nearly spill my coffee. I look down, and there with a broad grin stands the lad, tail wagging!

‘Ah…yes, quite….um….what?’

‘I think it’s time for us to venture out aged poop, and clear your brow.’

‘Really?’

‘Oh yes, I’m sure it will do you good.’

Do I really want to venture out?

‘WOOF!’

‘Right….I’ll get my jacket.’

These words are addressed to a wagging tail, charging out into the hall.

‘I wonder if we’ll see any squirrels on a day like this?’

‘Only one way to find out old huff and puff!’

‘I really must buy some new boots Bing, my old ones have given up on me.’

The lad, naturally has no interest in such technicalities, a walk calls…………………

………………….what else matters?
