It’s hard to believe I know, but my mind has, on occasion, been known to wander.
I’m not sure whether this is an affliction or not. Certainly from earliest years I have had the capacity to disappear into another world, where I can find the most wandering thoughts, extraordinarily interesting. I have by necessity, accepted that this is part of ‘my world’ and therefore any attempt to keep its confines at arms length, is quite impossible.
For those that have bothered to glance at ‘Lines From My Forehead’ and the exploits of a certain lad, none of this will come as any sort of surprise. The boy Bing is a true phenomenon, who has graciously spent time with an aged codger, and attempted to engage the aforementioned wandering mind, and thus rescue the guv from procrastination!
The results I fear have been mixed. We cannot and certainly won’t blame my canine companion. The task is, I fear, nigh on impossible but I’m terribly grateful for the efforts he continues to make.
I see in his eyes, an eagerness that can never be dimmed. Affability is his watchword, and his enquiring mind has kept this old poop on his toes, more often than I care to mention.
Ah, there’s the doorbell, which means the lad is about to start his day with me.
‘Morning Bing.’
‘Wotcha guv!.’
My conversation with Tom is brief, as the lad trundles around the house, rather like an FBI agent checking security arrangements, prior to a Presidential visit! As we chat the lad is now out in the back garden, sniffing out any recent activity.
Tom calls out….
‘Cheerio Bing!’
This brings the lad back into the hall.
‘See you later Tom.’
The front door closes and for a few seconds the lad remains seated watching the silhouette depart, before dashing off to his day bed, where he awaits a couple of small Bonios from yours truly, prior to the start of the days activities.
‘Well Bing, did you have a good nights kip?’
‘Not bad guv, An Arthur was active a couple of times in the night, but fortunately he settled eventually I think, but I’d already nodded off again.’
‘You’ll be glad to know Bing that there’s snooker on the box today.’
‘Lovely, lovely……any ski Jumping?’
‘Nope. The season has come to an end.’
‘Crumbs, no snow eh?’
‘Something like that.’
So folks, the day has started, and who knows where we will end up!
Now really....where was I?
Thank you ;)
