‘Well Bing……..’
‘Very thanks guv.’
‘Um…..good. Actually I was about to say, well Bing….it’s been a while since we’ve toddled up here.’
‘Certainly guv, certainly.’
The day is very warm, and that’s as much as one needs to say about this particular day. However, what makes this trundle so pleasant, are the dry paths and crisp colours of the forest. The lad is positively beaming, and often his tail wags as his extraordinary ‘hooter’ remembers a particular scent.
For the old poop following, the ancient forest appears pleased to see us again, and kindly allows us to briefly be, almost at one with it.
Down the way we hear distant ‘quacks’ as the small ponds amphibious inhabitants go about their day. Bing, cocks his head and peers into the depths of the forest and I find myself doing the same……quite what I’m peering at I haven’t a clue. However, such is the intensity of my companions stare, I feel drawn into the moment.
‘Is that a deer guv?’
I’m still peering and frankly my efforts are poor.
‘See it’s just behind that large prickle tree.’ (Holly.)
‘Well there is something, I think.’
I’m just about to make a comment when……..
‘Nope it’s just the tree behind swaying.’
We continue on our path.
‘Bing?’
‘Yes guv?’
‘How can you be so sure?’
‘Well ancient poop, I’m happy with my diagnosis, and unlike you, I shall not analyse it further.
‘No?’
‘No, there are far too many other things to enjoy, honest.’
‘Really?’
‘Certainly guv, certainly.’
‘Like ducks?’
‘Nope.’
‘Fish basking in the sunlight?’
‘Not really…….’
‘Um….er….……’
‘Snacks guv, snacks!’
‘Snacks?’
‘Or three old poop.’
We pause by the pond, ducks quack, fish bask and Bing has a snack……..
Me?
Blast I'm out of Polo's!
