I was sitting listening to one of Bach’s cello suites, when Bing sidled into the study and having enquired as to who and what it was, he gave a slight nod of approval and strolled out to the hallway and sat very patiently - in expectation of what?
Well it appears he at least, was paying attention when Alison said........
‘Remember, we are receiving a visit from Mr Kear this morning.’
In short, we are halfway through the year and therefore due a visit from Mr K, who comes twice every 12 months to tune the piano.
On arrival I introduced Bing to Mr Kear, and the pair disappeared into the lounge to inspect the ‘instrument.’
The lad was mightily impressed by Mr K’s ability to shift the pitch of a note by means of what he felt certain, was the starting handle from an old Bentley!
I retired to make coffee’s while Bing stood on the settee, front legs resting on the top of the back rest, entirely thrilled with the aforementioned ‘bent’ notes – tail wagging and head cocking first one way and then the other.
Time passed, and gradually Mr K worked his way from bottom notes to top, tweaking them as required.
Finally, various scales and trills announced the piano was fully restored to the best of health, and as Mr Kear sipped his coffee he said.
‘Bingo has been telling me all about Bach.’
‘Really?’ I said nervously.
‘Oh yes, Old “J S” as he calls him, is one of his favourites.’
‘Really?’ I said even more nervously.
‘He’s particularly partial to his “Jello Sweets!”’
Mr K’s shoulders shook, the boy Bing rolled onto his back and fair hissed with mirth!
‘Ah’ I said…………………..

‘Welcome to the world of Bing!’
