I was chatting to Bingo’s regular pals, Angela and Tom the other day, and discovered that a certain hound (within hearing distance) was due to go to the…..um…..V – E – T’s!
The word V – E – T is even worse than those other dreaded words “N – O Bingo!”
In short, the lad is always aware of where he’s heading in the car.
Frankly, we cannot be too surprised by his amazing ability in ascertaining exact latitudes and longitudes at any given moment…for a hound he most definitely is!
Cutting a short story even shorter, it’s on the occasion of a visit to you know where, when you know who is at his sharpest. Naturally T & A try any number of cunning distractions, in the vain hope, knowledge of the exact point of arrival is delayed as long as possible.
This is of course to no avail, for the ‘hooter’ of the *Grand Basset Griffon Vandeen is second to none!
Whether the upper or lower road is chosen, it isn’t long before a look forms on the noble brow of you know who, and a glance from anyone who dares take a peek, is returned with one of displeasure.
Arrival at the you know what’s, coincides with Master B leaping out of the car and of making a general tour of the car park, with the air of one who means to go anywhere but towards the entrance!
Fortunately once the door to the venue is open, the unmistakable (to a hound) whiff of minty type treats percolates up the receiving nostrils, and acts as an enticement to any chap on the lookout for a tasty tit-bit.
Once inside, he is greeted by very pleasant ladies with many hello’s and how-di-do’s, and within moments the furrowed countenance becomes sunny once again and all is right with the world.
Quite why dogs in general, are so averse to visits to the V - E - T’s is something of a mystery. I choose to believe that once a chap has entered one of the ‘rooms’ a veil should be drawn across such intimate moments. Inspections to ones nether regions, such as earflaps, hooter’s and more sensitive area’s are not of interest to us dear readers….but, perhaps explain the reason for reoccurring appointments being greeted by a chaps reluctance to venture to the V – E – T’s!!
*Since his Birthday and the receipt of a Blue pointed party hat, Bing has decided he looks like a Wizard - in fact not unlike Dumbledore! Somehow the breed, is - as far as Bing is concerned now actually ‘Grand Basset Griffondore Vandeen!’
