It's all about whether the weather is.....whatever!
I think it fair to say that the Boy Bing is of a very bright disposition, and rarely have I seen him grumpy. In short if on the odd occasion he has appeared a tad grumpy, within seconds it is possible to lift his spirits and he's ready for anything.
I mention this because recently I strolled into the kitchen to refresh my coffee mug, to find the lad by the back door, peering out at the stormy day beyond.
‘Fancy a snack Bing?’
I received a sigh and my pal for the day, continued his vigil by wrinkling his hooter of renown, and sighing.
‘Oh Bing we can’t have this, I realize it’s raining heavily, but I’m sure there must be something you would like to do?’
The lad ‘huffed’ a bit, and ‘tupped’ somewhat, and finally strolled over to me and gently received the proffered snack. This he carried to his ‘daybed’ and placed it neatly before him.
Ah, I thought, he’s in one of those moods when, he carefully collects his treats and neatly lines ‘em up, until such time as he decides to ‘nosh!’
‘Will it ever stop raining guv?’
‘Good question Bing. I’m afraid it looks as if this weather is certainly set in for the day.’
‘Really guv?’
‘Well I’ve lived in Lowtown for many years now and I do believe I can be relied on to give a pretty accurate state of the local weather, and I have to report that today is quite definitely a wet’un!’
The lads head hung lower than before.
At this precise moment, as if to make me look a complete poop, the sun chose to pop its hat on and slide defiantly out from behind a very dark cloud! A rainbow gracefully arched the sky.
‘Well I’ll be……’
‘Blimey guv you’re about as accurate as those folk on the box!’
‘Weather forecasters?’
‘Probabubbly.’
‘I don’t of course have expensive computer programs to aid my forecasts Bing.’
‘M’mmm.’
By this point the sun was positively beaming like a good’un, and my companion was pressing his hooter on a window pane attempting to ‘sniff’ the scene beyond.
I opened the back door and out he shot, trundling around the confines of the back garden, positively beaming at everything in sight.
Even the old poop was tempted out, and shortly after I was pulling up some of last years dead plants, which should have been dealt with months ago….actually now they were much easier to pull up and pop into the weed bag.
‘Thank you Bing I think they are quite safe in there.’
The lad does like to inspect anything placed in the bag for disposal.
‘Can’t help it guv, I just have to give ‘em a good hootering before you pop them back!’
Gardening with Bing is like most other events with him, decidedly different –
The day cheered up.
It was as if Bing could never be gloomy……….
Snacks were consumed……..
Which, as I’m sure you will agree - is as it should be!
