Monks have 'Habit's'............Bing has Routine's.....and so forth!

If ever there was a creature of habit, I think it would be fair and pretty safe, to pop the boy Bing at the summit of that particular term.

Routine is very much to his liking, and frankly any sudden changes in the daily round is to be frowned upon, particularly if the lad has decided the day should be just so and not thus….if you get my drift.

Recently, we have been enjoying extra time with Bing as there is a certain amount of building work going on at his residence!   Most of the time he is very happy with the change, as Tom and Angela and ‘an Arthur’ are here with us, and he has various areas that are regular snoozing spots within the confines of our house.

The problems seem to come, when T & A have to pop out suddenly, and the lad is not part of the ‘popping out’ group. He stands, sits, and eventually lies by the front door, sniffing the air that passes under the bottom gap. Low growls have been heard, and on occasion an unearthly ‘howl’ will be generated, which receives an……

‘Oh Bing, they’ve only just popped out to pick up a few bits and pieces and so forth.’

‘M’mmmm.’

‘I realize you like to be involved with just about everything that goes on, but I’m pretty sure shopping is not high on your list of things to do.’

‘M’mmmm.’

The hooter continues to sniff along the gap between mat and door.

‘Well, I don’t know about you, but I reckon I could do with a cuppa, and just maybe a snack.’

The word cuppa is ignored, but as the ‘K’ in snack is completed, his attention is on me.

‘Snack guv?’

‘Certainly Bing, certainly.’

I'm now wandering towards the kitchen and amazingly as I enter, the lad is already parked by the ‘snack’ tin, in anticipation of the next few moments.

The kettle is turned on, and as it heats up, I prise open Bing’s 'nosh' tin, and we go through the ritual of how the lad likes to have the snack delivered to him.  I’m sure I've mentioned in the past that the lad has his own way with ‘snack's’ and, unlike all the other dogs in the past, he is very, very deliberate in his eating methods.

Not for him the quick guzzling of any food proffered, the lad takes each offering and will often find a spot nearby to ‘park’ it before receiving the next ‘delight’. By the time I've made a coffee, and settled at the kitchen table to sip it and maybe eat a slice of toast, Bing has (weather permitting) taken his goodies outside and quietly gone about the gentle noshing of nosh!

As I look out into the garden now, there he is sitting very neatly and listening very, very carefully for the return of T & A and of course ‘an Arthur’………………………..the lads ears pick up the shutting of car doors, and immediately he dashes back into the house and to the front door, head cocked to one side as he hears them arriving at the front door!

All is well once again, routine is back in rhythm with the lad.

The world of Bing can continue as he would wish it to be…well until the next time!
