Drizzle...there's only one I like!

It’s drizzling.

I can’t think of anything more annoying at times than drizzle.
A shower will pass, steady rain could well be in for the day, so think of something else to do. But drizzle’s a real drain on the spirits. Will it continue? Will it let up? Drizzles are neither, one thing or the other.

Drizzle.

Not that that seems to bother the young ‘herbert’ looking at me, and wondering why we’re not both enjoying being ‘out and about!’

Am I a ‘fair weather’ walker?

I am.

Getting damp is not a thrill for an aged guv, even if the canopy of the forest is quite dense. Sorry, I don’t relish sliding about, as my pal disregards any sort of hardship, and seems determined to prolong the trundle!

Dare I introduce the young chap to the delightful confines of one of the local hostelries? The Victoria Tavern (so cosy) The Gardeners Arms, The Wobbly Bush (actually the Holly Bush….it’s just folk tend to wobble out of there!)

I fear this is not the day…..heavens we seem to be going deeper and deeper into the forest….’boozers’ are not on the itinerary of this hound. I shall just have to dream of a warming fireplace and a glass that cheers.

The lad is on the sniff, the old ‘hooter’ is working overtime, and I wander behind wondering if I can bribe the lad with a treat, or two?

Nope!

On we go, and I must accept that the drizzle gently rolling down my own ‘hooter’ is there for the duration!!

We start to turn ever so slowly through 180 degrees, and I try not to get my hopes up.

Drizzle.

Now the only drizzle this old poop likes, comes in the shape of a slice of lemon drizzle cake - with a nice cup of steaming ‘builders!’

I trip over a low-lying log.

‘Daydreaming guv?’

‘Well….um…er…m’mm.’

‘Cor you were miles away!’

‘Was I?’

‘Time for home eh?’

I try not to sound too excited.

‘Well only if you feel we should.’

‘Don’t know about you guv, but this wet is getting annoying.’

‘Really?’

(I try not to sound ironic.)

Then, as if to comment on my ‘fair weather’ status, as we trudge home, the sun suddenly peeps through the trees!

Drizzle…….

....................that's quite enough.
