I’m not sure if I have? If I have, please feel free to skip this next bit. For those who are new to these rambles, or perhaps need reminding, please read on.
The young chap who spends some of his days with this particular old poop, is a 1) hound, whose antecedence trundled over the channel from France, somewhere back in the mist of time.
Before we ourselves trundle on, it might be worth noting that, despite the odd behaviour of some folk, residing on the other side of the channel, on the whole those residents are, taking all in all, by and large and so forth and suchlike, a very decent bunch….and, let’s face it there are some pretty odd folk over here!
Therefore, it won’t come as too much of a shock to discover that, despite his ‘history’ like most of the ‘Norman’ and ‘Huguenot’ arrivals to these shores, the lad is fully integrated. AND, like most ‘converts’ fiercely proud of this ‘rock’ with its unpredictable weather, and, according to our cross channel neighbours, this islands extraordinary eating habits.
This preamble is as much a reminder to me as to any readers, who may still be awake at this point. Oh, I know there are folk out there who think that an overactive imagination is at fault for launching these ‘episodes’ upon an unsuspecting www! You are of course entitled to your opinion, but I fear the lad would not brook such shallow thinking.
From our first meeting, I was aware of being in the presence of an enquiring mind. Naturally, I’ve had to attempt to ‘sharpen’ my own dithering nature, and boy, has that remained a continuing exercise!
This marvellous pooch is of course totally unaware of such matters, and wanders through each day, happily oblivious of the things that don’t matter, and delighting in the ‘sudden’ events that do! There isn’t space here to list this chaps nature. No, it’s the continuing discovery, and I have to add, surprise, at just what is ruminating around this lad’s mind!
And those are just the ‘bits’ he cares to share!
When on occasion, I’m surprised and possibly shocked by Bings reaction to something, it is he who more than once has reminded me that…..
‘Hey I’m a hound.’
Just between us and possibly the next tree on one of our strolls ‘I’m a hound’ doesn’t even start to tell the whole tale. Suffice to add, when I mentioned recently to Bing, perhaps it was time to cease our weekly ‘taradiddles’ the returning look was sufficient to put me squarely in my place.
‘Beside guv, who else is there to learn………..you?’
(I’m still trying to work out whether he should be corrected or whether that sentence was perfectly right!)
(1) A Grand Bassett Griffon Vendeen
